The position is located at the California Department of Public Health Tuberculosis Control Branch (TBCB) in Richmond, CA.
The health educator will work on a statewide tuberculosis (TB) prevention initiative, TB Free California, aimed at promoting prevention strategies to reduce the burden of TB disease in California. The health educator, in collaboration with the TB Free California Director and the TB Prevention Nurse Consultant, will use skills as a seasoned, experienced communications and education professional with a full understanding of practices to develop, implement, coordinate, and evaluate a statewide communication and training strategy focused on testing for and treatment of latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) for patients at high risk for progression to active disease.
The Health Educator in TB Prevention should have a strong background in health education, program management, and public health practice. In this position, the health educator will rapidly develop tuberculosis (TB) subject matter expertise and apply knowledge of tuberculosis prevention practices to guide and implement a statewide program focused on best practices for latent TB infection (LTBI) testing and treatment.

Institute for Global Health Sciences works with the California Department of Public Health on several projects to help improve the health of Californians. One of these projects include the Tuberculosis Control Branch (TBCB), and is located at the CDPH campus in Richmond, CA. CDPH is dedicated to optimizing the health and well-being of the people in California. To protect and improve the health of all, TBCB provides leadership and resources to prevent and control tuberculosis (TB). This mission is carried out in collaboration with local health jurisdictions and stakeholders in the public and private sectors. IGHS is dedicated to improving health and reducing the burden of disease in the world's most vulnerable populations. It integrates UCSF expertise in all of the health, social, and biological sciences, and focuses that expertise on pressing issues in global health.
