The position requires a high level of knowledge and competence in both hardware and software aspects of bioinformatics, while collaborating closely with faculty members and the Genome Center leadership.

CORE MANAGEMENT (70%)
The incumbent will assume leadership and operational management responsibilities for the Bioinformatics Core Facility within the UC Davis Genome Center, overseeing its role in providing essential bioinformatics support to research groups across the campus.

Responsibilities will include supervising the Core's data analysts and staff, coordinating training workshops for both on-campus and off-campus users, and developing collaborations with potential Core customers to address client priorities and overall demand.

Financial management duties will entail working closely with the Genome Center's Director and Chief Administrative Officer to manage the Core's budget, ensuring timely invoicing, revising recharge structures and rates, and monitoring account balances. Budget reports will be prepared for review by the Core's faculty advisory board and the UC Davis Campus Research Core Facility committee.

The incumbent will lead the Core towards providing state-of-the-art bioinformatics services, maintaining its position at the forefront of analytical approaches. This will involve staying informed about emerging computational techniques, attending relevant conferences, and consulting with stakeholders across the campus.

The role also involves active participation in resource design, budgeting, and long-range planning processes to ensure a technically current computing environment for both the Genome Center and the Bioinformatics Service Core.
