Overview
This position is accountable and responsible for performing maintenance practices on various HVACR equipment throughout the hospital and other commercial buildings occupied by the Cone Health System. Must possess knowledge and technical skills for concepts, procedures, and troubleshooting techniques on refrigeration and air conditioning equipment. Ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment will consist of automatic control components, electrical components, refrigeration systems to include air distribution and balance, refrigerators, freezers and various types of air conditioning equipment. Technicians are responsible for equipment performance and assisting with extended maintenance to related devices and components. Capable of understanding and interpreting diagnostic reports and propose and carry out correction action needed for repair. All work should be performed in the utmost safest manner. All work activity should follow EPA regulations as they relate to refrigerants.

Responsibilities

Investigate cause of HVACR equipment malfunctions and offer corrective measures needed for repairs, replacements, and installations to restore safe and efficient operating condition. Must consistently maintain cooling set points by understanding and building automation system computer network of HVACR equipment.

Perform preventive maintenance inspections and tests to ensure HVACR quality equipment performance. Perform inspections of mechanically related equipment to determine operating design, operating conditions and the need for repair or adjustment. Capable of implementing adjustments, minor repairs and/or replacements, if needed.

Possess strong electrical control circuit knowledge to aid in troubleshooting and display acceptable reasoning skills based on theory and equipment design specifications.

Perform basic troubleshooting utilizing schematics for mechanical and electrical components.

Prepare preventive maintenance reports and complete work order requests to provide HVACR equipment maintenance history.

Prepare purchase requisitions for equipment and parts to facilitate repairs and replacements; recommend equipment and spare parts purchases.

Respond to in-house service calls throughout the hospital.

Perform minor repairs to plumbing systems.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:
REQUIRED:
High School Diploma or equivalent
PREFERRED:
Associate's degree in HVAC or Refrigeration

EXPERIENCE:
REQUIRED:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial/commercial maintenance
PREFERRED:
Healthcare, Hospitality, or Education facilities experience

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
REQUIRED:
Drivers License | Valid Drivers License
CFC certification
PREFERRED:
NC HVAC license
