Job Summary

This position serves in a supervisory capacity as a technical lead and subject matter expert for Accounts Payable. This position is responsible to managing the daily operations (planning, coordinating, directing and supervising the activities of the department, including travel, entertainment and other employees' expense reimbursements. This includes defining goals and objectives; formulating policies and procedures; developing, implementing and reviewing controls; ensuring compliance with all regulatory guidelines and requirements; and determining resource requirements. This position is responsible to lead and motivate the Accounts Payable team to perform their roles to the best of their abilities, to ensure that all transactions are processed timely, accurately and paid in accordance to terms and to establish and maintain relationships with multiple Health system department t promote a collaborative environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area or four years of equivalent experiences.
  • Six or more years working within Accounts Payable
  • Five or more years in Supervisory role of 10+ staff member
  • Knowledge of GAAP theories and practices, relating to Accounts Payable.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, service orientation, active listening, critical thinking, ability to multi-task effectively in a high volume environment, organizational skills and effective verbal and written communication skills; effective customer services, problem solving and time/staff mgmt. skills.
  • Ability to manage changing priorities, and manage staff time and efforts accordingly.
  • Strong MS Office including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Visio; Intermediate skill set in Microsoft Excel, including (but not limited to) Pivots and V-lookups.
  • The ability to work on site in our San Francisco office when required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in Accounting/Accounts Payable for Hospital/Medical facility
  • Experience in the use of financial and ERP systems (cloud), e.g. Workday or Oracle
  • Experience with EDI
  • Knowledge of human resources policies and procedures.
  • Intermediate knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting UCSF Health resources.
