Cloud Computing DevOps Engineer, Senior

The Opportunity:

Booz Allen's Digital Battlespace Team is seeking an experienced DevOps engineer to build modern and scalable cloud infrastructure for new products in the defense market. As a DevOps engineer, you know that these skills create efficiency and effectiveness so you can quickly deliver the best solutions for clients. We're looking for a DevOps engineer like you to help develop critical tools and get them into the hands of those who need them most.

As a DevOps engineer at Booz Allen, you'll streamline the software development lifecycle, from requirements to monitoring in production. You'll incorporate open-source tools, automation, and cloud resources to cut down on tedious tasks and free up the team's developers to do what they do best-create. You'll work with the team to implement continuous integration and delivery to limit manual testing and troubleshooting. This is an opportunity to hone your skills in the latest automation, infrastructure, and cloud-based development while developing software that will make mission-forward impact. You'll work with warfighters across command and control (C2), Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR), and Special Missions to build the infrastructure and systems that support DoD mission goals.

You Have:

  • 5+ years of experience in software development, operations, or systems administration with a focus on DevOps practices and methodologies
  • 5+ years of experience working with AWS, Azure, or GPC
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible or Terraform, including automating the provisioning, configuring, and managing of infrastructure resources through the deployment of Infrastructure as Code
  • Experience building, automating, or maintaining CI/CD pipelines with tools such as Jenkins and GitLab
  • Experience in a scripting language such as Bash or Python
  • Experience working with containerization technologies such as Docker, and container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes
  • Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field such as CS or Data Science

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Splunk, including setting up monitoring dashboards, alerts, and logging pipelines for infrastructure and applications
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment, especially Scrum, including participating in sprint planning, stand-up meetings, backlog grooming, and retrospectives
  • Knowledge of security best practices and compliance standards in cloud environments for DoD and Federal clients, including implementing security controls, access management policies, and encryption mechanism to protect data and resources
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex issues in distributed systems, identify root causes, and implement effective solution to resolve incidents and improve system reliability and performance
  • Possession of strong collaboration and communication skills, including working effectively in cross-functional teams, communicating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, and mentoring junior team members in DevOps best practices and principles
  • TS/SCI clearance
  • Master's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field such as CS or Data Science

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $75,600.00 to $172,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees. This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
