As part of Waymo's Legal team, you will work on the exciting legal issues surrounding our transformational autonomous driving technology and help build processes moving forward from technology brainstorming through scaled commercial deployment. We partner with our public policy, safety, security and privacy experts to define transportation policy for the autonomous driving world to come, advising on regulatory changes that support and protect our users around the world. We collaborate with our engineering, product, strategy and operations teams to develop and protect our intellectual property portfolio and guide our corporate and commercial transactions. We ensure compliance with a complex and dynamic range of global regulations. And we anticipate, mitigate, and litigate high-profile and precedent-setting legal matters.

This role will be hybrid on-site in the Bay area and report into our Regulatory Compliance team.

In this role you'll:

  • Help fulfill regulatory compliance requirements of a growing fleet of vehicles, including registration and permitting
  • Manage the regulatory work required for interstate transfers and off-boarding of vehicles
  • Document complex compliance requirements and step-by-step processes for a variety of audiences
  • Work with the Operations team to ensure all vehicles are inspected and equipped with required compliance materials
  • Maintain relationships with external vendors

At a minimum we'd like you to have:

  • An exceptionally keen eye for detail
  • 2+ years of experience in a regulatory compliance position at a safety-focused organization
  • Ability to work in an evolving environment
  • Technical skills and comfort using proprietary software
  • Team player mentality

It's preferred if you have:

  • Experience working directly with regulatory agencies like the Department of Motor Vehicles
  • An eye for opportunities to improve processes and the ability to to implement solutions to create a more efficient working environment
  • Strong program management skills

The expected hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level. Waymo employees are also eligible to participate in Waymo's discretionary annual bonus program, equity incentive plan, and generous Company benefits program, subject to eligibility requirements.
