DESCRIPTION

Under close supervision, the Eating Disorders Center Therapist will work as an Eating Disorder Milieu Therapist providing group psychotherapy to patients in the pediatric program at UC San Diego Health Eating Disorders Center for Treatment & Research. Under close direction of supervisor, uses basic skills and professional concepts to evaluate and deliver didactic and behavioral interventions to complex patients according to protocol. The incumbent will receive regular feedback on clinical techniques employed on groups and assigned cases. Job responsibilities can include coordination of care with other providers, administrative documentation and organization, meal and snack coaching and assistance, and supervision of patients. Assists in implementing specialty interventions such as exposures, contingency management, and multifamily group management. Attend weekly trainings, workshops, and report on patient progress in weekly team meetings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Four (4) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in a related area.
  • Basic skills in providing behavioral/educational interventions.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and ethical standards associated with the profession.
  • Basic knowledge of diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.
  • Effective verbal and written communication. Proven active listening and persuasion skills.
  • Skills in collaborating with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of business software and electronic/medical records systems.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience working with eating disorders.
  • Strong motivational interviewing skills.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
