About Team / Role

WEX is seeking a self-driven and motivated individual to join our Commercial Legal team as a Commercial Paralegal. This role will be primarily responsible for supporting the commercial and transactional work of WEX's Health Benefits line of business in the Americas. As a new member of the team, the Commercial Paralegal will have the opportunity to utilize and enhance their subject matter experience in commercial contracts and transactional matters, particularly customer and revenue-generating agreements.

How you'll make an impact

  • Draft and revise commercial contracts (including customer contracts and other revenue generating agreements such as credit agreements, program agreements, referral agreements, network acceptance agreements, service level agreements, and non-disclosure agreements) accurately and in compliance with all WEX policies and risk framework.

  • Review customer requested changes to the contracts, work with Health Benefits attorneys and appropriate stakeholders for feedback/approvals, and revise applicable documents accordingly.

  • Assist attorneys with the preparation, review and execution of various transaction documents, forms, and filings in connection with the Health Benefits line of business in the Americas.

  • Manage contract lifecycle system (Icertis), including maintaining the legal repository of contracts, creating contracts, routing contracts for internal review and approvals, and executing contracts in the system.

  • Manage legal matter workflow, including managing the legal request queue for matter intake in the workload/matter management system (Xakia), interfacing with internal stakeholders, and administrative tasks related to completing matters for the Health Benefits legal team.

  • Collaborate with other support functions, including Finance, Compliance, and Risk.

  • Assist with strategic projects as necessary.

  • Utilize excellent written and oral communication skills and exercise sound judgment and independent decision-making.

Experience you'll bring

  • Education: Paralegal degree or certification, or bachelor's degree in Finance or Business

  • License/Certification: Paralegal Certificate from an ABA accredited paralegal program, B.A. or B.S. degree, or Juris Doctorate.

  • Experience: 2+ years of paralegal or equivalent experience with commercial contracts and transactional matters, including drafting and generating agreements, redlining, and reviewing contract revisions and comments. Experience with contracting in the health sector, technology agreements, or for employee benefit arrangements is a plus.

  • Experience with legal technologies (matter management and contract lifecycle management systems) strongly preferred.

  • Experience with all aspects of a contract lifecycle management is highly preferred.

  • Previous experience working in-house supporting a line of business on the customer side is preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to learn IT applications and systems.

  • Hard working, dependable, curious, proactive, resourceful, and consistent follow through.

  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills to effectively and independently prioritize and manage a heavy workload while accountable for work product.

  • Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Collaborative, flexible, adaptable and able to work across functions in a team oriented environment.

  • Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and DocuSign; familiarity with contract lifecycle management systems and workload/matter management system.

The base pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual pay rates will vary and will be based on various factors, such as your qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Base pay is one component of WEX's total compensation package. Most sales positions are eligible for commission under the terms of an applicable plan. Non-sales roles are typically eligible for a quarterly or annual bonus based on their role and applicable plan. Salary Pay Range: $33.00 - $44.00
