Role Description

We are seeking a highly experienced and innovative Senior Test Equipment Design Engineer to lead the design and development of test equipment for R&D testing of energy storage systems, with a particular focus on the fluid systems for our battery modules. As a Senior Test Equipment Design Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the design of all fluidic subsystems, including air-handling systems, electrolyte-management systems, thermal systems, and more. You will play a critical role in advancing our testing capabilities and driving innovation in battery technology while ensuring the safety of our personnel in and around our test facilities.

What You'll Do:

  • Drive innovation in test equipment design, particularly in the areas of fluidic subsystems, to enhance testing accuracy, reliability, and efficiency.

  • Design all fluidic subsystems within test equipment, including air-handling systems for thermal management, electrolyte-management systems for precise control of electrolyte flow, and other subsystems as required.

  • Ensure that all fluidic subsystems designed for testing equipment meet stringent safety standards and requirements. Implement safety protocols and fail-safe mechanisms to mitigate risks and protect personnel from potential hazards.

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of fluidic subsystems into overall test equipment designs. Work with electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and testing engineers to optimize system performance and functionality while prioritizing safety.

  • Oversee the prototyping and testing of fluidic subsystems to validate performance and functionality, with a primary focus on safety. Conduct thorough testing and analysis to identify areas for improvement and optimization while ensuring the safety of personnel involved in testing activities.

  • Provide on-the-ground technical support to our Test Operations team to ensure high-uptime of our test equipment and test articles.

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience in test equipment design, with a focus on fluidic subsystems and energy storage systems.

  • Strong expertise in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer, with a demonstrated track record of designing complex fluidic systems while ensuring safety.

  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Siemens NX, etc.) for 3D modeling and design.

  • Experience designing equipment used in the manufacturing or testing of medium- to high-volume production of electromechanical components.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with a focus on designing robust and reliable systems for R&D testing applications while prioritizing safety.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts and safety requirements effectively to cross-functional teams.
