Position Title: Assistant/Associate/Full Professional Researcher - Center for Tuberculosis

Duties and Responsibilities: An Assistant/Associate/Full Professional Researcher position is available in the Institute for Global Health Sciences, University of California at San Francisco (with links to the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics).

The selected candidate will support data management activities for several ongoing projects and projects in development, developing best practice SOPs that can be applied to other projects. The incumbent will have the opportunity to provide data management support for the DRAMATIC trial (https://clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT03828201) as well as for studies within the SMART4TB consortium (https://tb.ucsf.edu/news/smart4tb-ucsf-joins-200-million-global-tb-consortium), including working as part of a team developing RedCAP databases and data management guidelines.

The successful candidate is expected to work closely with the PI to conduct independent methodological research, resulting in the writing of peer-reviewed publications for medical and statistical journals. The successful candidate will also assist the PI to develop grant applications for new methodological projects.

The UCSF Center for Tuberculosis is highly multidisciplinary and collaboration is highly encouraged. The individual will also have opportunities to collaborate with other scientists in the UCSF School of Medicine, and will be encouraged to seek out such collaborations. The expectation will be that the Assistant/Associate/Full Professional Researcher will apply for a Research Career Development Award (K) which would put them in a strong position to apply for a faculty appointment within UCSF.

Required Qualifications:

  • Appointees in the Professional Research series must possess a doctorate or its equivalent.
  • Expertise and doctoral-level training in health policy, epidemiology, biostatistics, health economics and related fields.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in TB or infections disease related clinical research.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in teams.
  • Excellent methodological training in statistics.
  • Experience in design and analysis of randomized clinical trials.
  • Experience in data management for complex clinical research projects.
  • Excellent programming skills in R or Stata.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

See Table 13B for the salary range for this position. A reasonable estimate for this position is $87,100-$231,800.
