The Software Architect is a key figure in the design and execution of software solutions, collaborating with multiple development teams to ensure the delivery of robust products. This role involves designing security strategies, managing compliance, and aligning with legal standards to safeguard organizational information. Responsibilities include evaluating, identifying, and developing software architectures and solutions, leading software development projects, and implementing Maximum Availability Architecture principles. The ideal candidate possesses expertise in high availability and disaster recovery technologies, a solid understanding of system architecture, and excellent problem-solving abilities under pressure.

This position is an individual contributor role reporting to VP, Cloud Engineering & Technical Operations.

Responsibility

• Evaluate, Identify, and Develop Software Architectures and Solutions
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess the current state, identify gaps, and determine both functional and non-functional requirements for new software or applications
• Utilize tools and methodologies to design representations for functions and user interfaces of desired products
• Adhere to industry-standard architecture review processes for broader alignment while leading architecture reviews
• Establish a framework for continuous improvement and refinement of software product delivery, emphasizing efficiency from software design to system architecture, including microservices
• Lead software development projects
• Offer technical leadership and accountability to development teams, guiding project direction and ensuring success
• Participate in making architectural decisions across all projects, contributing to their strategic and operational excellence
• Develop and implement Maximum Availability Architecture
• Develop and uphold a standard 'gold' configuration and software version across the entire infrastructure to ensure consistency and reliability

Basic

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Technology, or a relevant field
• 15+ years of experience with a deep understanding of various coding and programming languages
• 10+ years of experience in Database Design and Data Modeling
• Experience with Database Design and Data Modeling
• Experience with AWS or Azure
• Experience setting up load balancers, VPCs, and security groups and overall networking
• Experience with High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) principles and technologies
• Experience in system architecture, including networks, databases, and cloud services, focusing on HA and DR design and implementation
• Experience with auto-recovery and single-button site switch for the fastest recovery strategy
• Experience with data backup, restoration, and replication strategies
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure
• Experience in leading and managing teams

Preferred

• Proficiency in cloud services and infrastructure
• Familiarity with AWS offerings such as EC2, S3, Lambda, and RDS

Based on applicable legislation, the below details pay ranges in the following locations:

California: $251,100.00 - $393,500.00 base salary

Illinois and Colorado: $233,900.00 - $330,425.00 base salary

Washington and New York (including NYC metro area): $233,900.00 - $354,675.00 base salary
