Job Description

Definition
Under direction, the Senior Cost & Schedule Coordinator is responsible for a variety of cost and schedule responsibilities including cost estimating, cost accounting, schedule development, schedule analysis, and other project control activities related to transportation capital projects.

Key responsibilities and duties are listed, but not limited to, the below:

  • Plans, organizes, and may supervise the work of cost and schedule coordination staff involved in conducting project cost and schedule analysis and preparing project reports;
  • Supports the development of policies and procedures for project cost/schedule analysis and reporting, including cost estimating, cost trend analysis, cost projections, cost accounting, schedule updates, and schedule controls;
  • Directs the preparation of capital project financial reports and prepares cost reports;
  • Reviews and critiques other consultants and contractor cost reports to ensure consistency with project/program and/or project management policies and procedures;
  • Participates in the selection and negotiation of agreements with other consultants;
  • Conducts cost and schedule analysis of change order impacts, contractor claims, contractor overhead rates, and procurement costs versus prices;
  • Reviews project invoices as well as progress payments and final payments to other consultants and contractors;
  • Prepares cash flow and commitment projections for tracking of expenditures and comparisons of budgeted versus actual costs;
  • Supports the development of cost control and project scheduling skills of project managers and support staff;
  • Coordinates activities of the Project Controls Unit with other departments, divisions and staff of client as appropriate;
  • Prepares and reviews project master schedules, detailed working schedules, schedule reports, schedule updates and workaround plans, and related schedule reports;
  • Works with project managers and client department managers on resource loading of all project schedules and resource leveling of division staff requirements and commitments;
  • Prepares and directs the preparation of a variety of reports and correspondence;
  • Performs other related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proficient in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project
  • Experience in Design and Construction for civil, track and facilities projects
  • 8 to 15 years of Experience
  • Basic understanding of Cost Principles
  • Sufficient training, education, and public or private sector experience to demonstrate the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Development of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is typically obtained through training and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major work in engineering, construction management, accounting, finance, or business administration and four years of increasingly responsible professional cost and schedule analysis experience in capital projects, including at least two years with transportation related projects and two years using Primavera Project Planner scheduling software.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of California and/or certification as a Project Management Professional, AACE Cost Consultant, or AACE Cost Engineer at the timeof appointment is preferred.


Salary Range: $110,000-$150,000
