Salesforce is seeking a Senior Vice President in its Global Communications team, to lead us into our next era of relevance in the AI-driven enterprise software market. This person will be responsible for earned and owned media for our entire product portfolio, and for positioning our industry thought leadership. You will lead a world-class team, dedicated to the art of storytelling and will build strong, trusted relationships with external and internal stakeholders. You are a driven professional with an exceptional track record in media relations, and a deep understanding enterprise technology. You will have managed and developed large teams, and have had significant tenure in public relations within the technology sector, with a track record of developing earned and owned communications strategies.

You will be a trusted communications advisor to our executives, and manage and support C-level executive communications programs, including thought leadership platforms, content, and executive visibility. You are a proven strategist and innovative thinker with a passion for technology PR, a desire to drive real business impact. You embody a values-led philosophy and are adept at turning change and challenge into opportunities. You believe the effective combination of earned and owned communications drives outsized success, and that benchmarking, measurement and research are fundamental to corporate communications. You have a bias for action, are comfortable working in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment and are not afraid to drive change in service of business goals. You embrace fun and embody the spirit of teamwork.

This is a senior-level position within an influential communications function and reports to the Chief Communications Officer.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop an earned and owned content strategy that positions Salesforce's leadership in data, AI, CRM and trust

  • Oversee product communications to establish us as a leader in AI and data relevance, and articulate our differentiated product strategy to the market

  • Engage with the media as a primary stakeholder by building and maintaining trusted relationships; serve as a spokesperson, as needed

  • Oversee the Salesforce newsroom, driving a high volume of quality content and ensuring strong reach and engagement, while being an effective complement to marketing channels and strategies.

  • Develop annual plans and measures to achieve the objectives of Salesforce and global communications; apply team, agency and budget resources to deliver excellent results, adapting to external events and environment

  • Collaborate with leaders in marketing and product development to deliver against business goals around our trusted AI advisors and storytellers strategy

  • Continually innovate the way we do product communications, including with the use of technology; seek and embrace best practices

  • Oversee the professional development and advancement of the team; identify and create learning opportunities for team members

  • Champion a diverse and inclusive culture

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCES:

  • 15+ years of experience in public relations/external communications, specifically in enterprise software, with ability to deliver proactive stories while also managing issues

  • 10+ years of significant, successful managerial experience

  • Strong media relationships with key U.S. trade, financial and business journalists

  • Experience driving alignment and refining owned content -- from announcements to thought leadership to opeds -- in close partnership with senior leaders and technologists.

  • Exceptional leadership skills with an ability to set a positive tone and effectively manage, inspire and develop a world-class team in alignment with our core values - Trust, Customer Success, Innovation, Equality and Sustainability

  • Ability to partner with technical leaders, understand complex technical stories and make them relevant for a broad audience

  • Ability to influence senior executives, providing strategic counsel and executive comms support

  • A proven background in driving measurable comms results in support of business goals, global brand and executive requirements

  • Strong track record partnering with cross-functional teams and agency teams to deliver those results in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience with new digital tools, techniques and data to enable personalized engagement with stakeholders

For Washington-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $359,000 to $437,000.For California-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $359,000 to $437,000.

Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, benefits.
