POSITION: Shipping and Logistics Manager

REPORTS TO: Sr. Director of Sirkin Center Operation

STATUS: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

JOB CLASSIFICATION: Manager II

UNION ELIGIBLE: No

WORK ARRANGEMENT: 100% Onsite, In-Office 5 Days/Week

LOCATION: Alameda, CA

SALARY RANGE: $35.90/hr-$48.72/hr

Logistics and supply chain management is a key part of the supply chain, working to plan, control, and implement the storage and flow of products, materials, information, or services. The primary responsibility of the LightHouse Shipping and Logistics Manager is to ensure that LightHouse ECO products ship to distributors in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

Logistics Managers act as supervisors by overseeing the entire supply chain purchasing and distribution process. They take and manage the inventory of products stored within the warehouse. Logistics Managers also collaborate closely with product suppliers and clients to build strong and long-lasting relationships. They're constantly working with product carriers as well to determine and negotiate shipping rates for materials.

Logistics Managers typically handle the entire delivery process of products by scheduling both inbound and outbound shipments and constantly monitoring them to make sure each product arrives on time. To ensure the logistical processes are running smoothly, they meet with department heads to determine which logistics improvements need to be made to increase productivity levels across the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in supply chain or relevant is preferred
  • 2 years+ of shipping experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good working knowledge of the consumer goods industry
  • Creative thinking skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Good time management skills
  • Experience working with electronic data
  • Experience with multiple shipping platforms
  • Forklift experienceis desired
  • Experience using EDI, MRP, and ERP systems.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Microsoft Office
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including nights and/or weekends when needed.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage all LightHouse ECO shipping processes and team members.
  • Select carriers for transportation of all Lighthouse ECO goods, both incoming and outgoing, and negotiate rates and contracts with carriers and ensure the best possible rates. Plan routes and process shipments.
  • Respond to and resolve complaints and problems as it pertains to shipping
  • Keep up-to-date on shipping carriers, routes and rates and provide reports on changes when required.
  • Comply with laws, regulations, and ISO requirements
  • Strategically plan and manage logistics to ensure internal standards are met and customers are satisfied
  • Direct, optimize and coordinate full order cycle
  • Keep track of quality, quantity, stock levels, delivery times, transport costs and efficiency and ensure that cost, productivity, accuracy, and timeline targets are met.
  • Help to arrange warehouse catalog goods, and manage inventory
  • Resolve any arising problems or complaints
  • Supervise, coach and train warehouse workforce and be willing to offer training to other staff members.
  • Maintain metrics and analyze data to assess performance and implement improvements
  • Ability to occasionally perform computer work and operate standard office equipment.
  • Willingness to perform other related duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Email Responsiveness.

  • Provide support to direct reports as needed, to carry out service obligations.
  • Ensures a competent, motivated team through hiring, training, development, performance review/evaluations, and team-building programming.
  • Delegate/assign tasks to staff and ensure they are complete in a timely manner.
  • Review and approve employee timesheets.
  • Knowledgeable of accessibility needs and requirements for Lighthouse facilities.
  • Fill in for a direct report as needed.
  • Planning, Organizing, Prioritizing, Analyzing Situations, Accountability.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires the ability to lift and carry packages weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis and up to 100 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Prolonged walking or standing, and frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching daily.
  • Requires a full range of physical motion to operate manual, electrical and/or gasoline-powered equipment and machines.
  • Must be able to move throughout assigned areas, as the work is performed primarily in a warehouse environment, year-round
  • Ability to safely and properly use tools and equipment.
  • Ability to occasionally perform computer-intensive work and operate standard office equipment.
  • Willingness to travel to various sites.
  • Willingness to work night and/or weekends when needed.
  • Must be able to independently travel to all LightHouse physical locations and events as needed.
