Position Summary

The Children's Oncology Group (COG), a National Cancer Institute supported clinical trials group, is the world's largest organization devoted exclusively to childhood and adolescent cancer research. The COG unites more than 10,000 experts in childhood cancer at more than 200 leading children's hospitals, universities, and cancer centers across North America, Australia, and New Zealand in the fight against childhood cancer. Our goal is to cure all children and adolescents with cancer, reduce the short and long-term complications of cancer treatments, and determine the causes and find ways to prevent childhood cancer.

The IT Project Coordinator is responsible for managing various projects and working closely with IT Project Manager to prepare comprehensive action plans, including resources, timeframes and budgets for projects. The IT Project Coordinator will collaborate with the Stakeholders and internal IT teams to deliver results on deadlines and other personnel as required to plan, direct, and coordinate activities for each project to ensure that goals and objectives are accomplished in a timely manner.

This is a regular full-time position.

Full salary range for this position: $62,968 to $90,167 per year. The typical hiring range for this position is from $62,968 (minimum) to $76,568 (midpoint), based on 100% FTE. The starting salary is determined based on the candidate's knowledge, skills, experience, as well as budget availability.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary contact for each project, working with project teams, coordinating communication as needed.
  • Coordinate project development activities, resources and information.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to identify and define requirements, scope and objectives in collaboration with COG IT Team.
  • Assign tasks to internal IT teams and assist with schedule management.
  • Analyze risks and opportunities.
  • Monitor and report on project progress and handle any issues that arise.
  • Communicate project status to stakeholders and IT team.
  • Ensure standards and requirements are met through quality assurance tests in collaboration with Software Quality Analysts.
  • Problem solve and troubleshoot project issues and barriers, in conjunction with project manager and other IT team members.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to manage workflow.
  • Provide assistance and support to the Director of Information technology as needed.
  • Assist to triage tickets in COG Helpdesk system.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Three (3) years of related work experience as an IT Project Coordinator or similar role.
  • Bachelor's degree in IT Project Management or related field, or you can substitute with four additional years of relevant experience.
Other Qualifications
  • Experience in managing multiple projects within a network environment.
  • Experience in IT project coordination, from conception to delivery.
  • Strong working knowledge and hands-on experience with Microsoft Project, or similar application.
  • High level of PC literacy, including intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software, such as MS Word, Excel, Visio.
  • An ability to prepare and interpret flowcharts, schedules, and step-by-step action plans.
  • Solid organizational skills, including multitasking and time-management.
  • Familiarity with risk management and quality assurance control.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, prioritization, service orientation and outstanding interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Familiarity with Software development methodologies, scientific terminology a plus.
  • A self-starter and be able to work independently as well as within a team environment.
  • Be flexible to handle multiple tasks and learn job responsibilities efficiently and quickly.

This position is classified as exempt based on the job duties. However, based on the FTE, salary level of the employee, or federal/state/local laws, the employee may be classified as nonexempt.
