General Responsibilities:

At Terracon, our Geotechnical Field Services Supervisors coordinate daily with the Geotechnical Group and Department Managers regarding the availability of field and staff engineers/geologists to perform fieldwork. The region's geotechnical staff will remain reporting to their local offices.

This regional position can be located out of the following Terracon offices: Lodi, Concord (East Bay), or Sacramento.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Visit each office in the region with geotechnical-related staff occasionally to develop relationships with geotechnical-related staff.
  • Coordinate and obtain drilling permits for all geotechnical projects in the region. Maintain regional drilling permit database on Teams.
  • Schedule field reconnaissance and marking for underground service alerts.
  • Facilitate underground service alerts and obtain utility clearances.
  • Schedule private utility locates and maintain relationships with private locate sub-consultants.
    • Sending scope to private utility locate subcontractor before work event
  • Schedule traffic control services and maintain relationships with traffic control subcontractors. Coordinate traffic control plans.
    • Sending scope to traffic control subcontractor before work event
  • Schedule exploration services (internally and externally) and maintain relationships with drilling/CPT subcontractors. Act as the initial point of contact to address issues that arise with drilling and other field services.
    • Sending scope to exploration subs/internal-drillers prior to work event
  • Schedule pile load testing services and crews.
  • Schedule and coordinate percolation testing.
  • Participate in pre-task planning calls where field exploration services are planned.
  • Confirm signed tailgate safety meeting notes are saved in project folders.
  • Verify staff has appropriate certifications and training to complete required field services.
  • Verify subconsultants/subcontractors are approved in Coupa. Track and process Purchase Orders in Coupa for subconsultants/subcontractors.
  • Coordinate project-related field equipment/supply purchases and approve in Coupa.
    • Have an understanding of the Coupa system and create POs in Coupa
  • Review of GeoTab scores of Field Engineers/Geologists and assign coaching when needed
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A bachelor's degree in technical discipline practiced by the firm, including engineering or geology, is preferred.
  • Minimum 4-6 years' relevant experience.
  • Minimum 3 years' supervisory experience.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.
Preferred Certification:
  • Certification or licensure in field of expertise.


The expected salary range for this position is listed below. The base range may be adjusted based on the specific location of the applicant. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
$78500 - $121700 annually
