OVERVIEW:

The SF Chinatown Corps Ministry Assistant is primarily responsible for developing, maintaining, and promoting youth and corps programs in both English and Cantonese.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and implement Summer Day Camp and Afterschool Programs, including curriculum, schedule, and staffing
  • Schedule and oversee the gymnasium activities and rental groups
  • Connect with the youth in the neighborhood to establish relationships and meet the needs of the community
  • Plan and develop monthly calendar of activities/programs
  • Report to and take direction from the Corps Officers for daily program assignments
  • Support corps social services and program activities as assigned
  • Plan and implement programs and bible studies for youth and small groups
  • Develop regular visitation and outreach for assigned ministries
  • Attend Corps Council and staff meetings, including staff training sessions
  • Assist with planning and implementing seasonal programs
  • Maintain sound Christian theology and practice
  • Other related duties as required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or equivelant (Required)
  • CA Driver's license (Required)
  • Formal Christian education experience (Preferred)
  • Two or more years of experience working with youth (Preferred)
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Experience in ministry and church context
  • Must be Christian and show evidence of personal relationship with Jesus Christ

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Bilingual in Cantonese (Preferred)
  • Great communication skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to lead group activities and events
  • Computer literate and highly versed in social media platforms

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
