About our group:

THIS IS AN ONSITE POSITION

The Global Virtualization team manages all the company's Corporate Enterprise hypervisors and all on-premise Datacenter hardware. Currently, most of the hypervisor focus is on VMware ESXi 7.x and 8.x.

About the role - you will:

  • 5 years experience for the VMware & Windows hardware and all server Hardware related issues as part of a Global Team
  • Support configuration, administration and tuning of the VMware & Windows global environment.
  • Troubleshoot issues with vCenter, ESXi and VMs
  • Provide day-to-day Tier 2 and Tier 3 technical support and ticket management; interaction with the junior Tier 1 Operations Admins
  • Help in deploying and patching hypervisors & Windows Servers.
  • Be available for On-Call support during non-business hours as needed
  • Lead complex hypervisor integration projects & work on IT & Business sponsored projects
  • Administer the entire array of vCenter and ESXi, including HA, DRS, SDRS, EVC, vCenter Enhanced Linked Mode, PSC, etc.

About you:

  • 5 years experience inVMware & Windows adminsitration
  • Ability to solve problems in stressful situations
  • Ability to articulate and clearly communicate complex problems and solutions in a simple, logical, and impactful manner
  • Good Communication skills
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to inexperienced users
  • Time management skills and has an extreme customer focus mindset
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Prior experience of factory IT support

Your experience includes:

  • Experience in Corporate IT - ESXi System Administration and Server hardware support
  • Experience in deploying and managing Windows Server O.S's in physical and virtual environment
  • Knowledge of IT systems, server and networking infrastructure
  • Hands-on experience in administrating vCenter and ESXi
  • Experience with Hypervisors
  • Prior experience of factory environment and infrastructure support

We are looking for an experienced VMware and Windows Admin with familiarity of a global enterprise environment:

  1. Experience with in-depth ESXi and VM performance troubleshooting using tools like vROPS, Solarwinds, vCenter, etc.
  2. Experience with in-depth Windows Server O.S's, Clustering, file services troubleshooting skills etc.
  3. To support several hundred ESXi servers running thousands of 24x7 VMs
  4. Server Hardware in 24x7 Datacenter environments
  5. Experienced in vCenter Linked Mode and hypervisor technologies like HA, DRS, SDRS, EVC
  6. Willingness to interact with a large global customer base
  7. Able to translate complex customer requirements (Application, middleware, DBs, Appliances) into actionable VM implementations
  8. Part of a 24x7 support team distibuted accross the globe
  9. Experience deploying and troubleshooting very large VMs (20+ TBs of storage, 12+ vCPUs, 100s of GB of RAM)
  10. Prior experience with other hypervisors (besides ESXi) and Kubernetes is a plus
  11. Scripting experience is a plus

The estimated base salary range for this position in the San Francisco Bay Area is: $90,560 -$132,000. Actual salary range is based on the regional labor market of the role in the geography in which the position is located based on the requirements of the job and your skills. This posted salary range is a good faith and reasonable estimate, and Seagate reserves the right to adjust this range depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
