HDR is looking for a Senior Project Manager to join our Transportation Business Group in either Raleigh, Charlotte, or Wilmington, NC. With HDR's continued expansion, we have an opportunity for a Senior Project Manager to lead transportation design projects throughout the state, primarily in eastern North Carolina. This is a growth position for the right candidate looking to make the next step in their career and build a high performing group. On a day-to-day basis, the Senior Project Manager will be expected to:

  • Be responsible fore the management of NCDOT transportation design projects
  • Be a Project Manager on large-scale contracts for non-conventional and conventional projects for area clients
  • Establish and maintain client relations and be involved with marketing, contractual, design and production meetings
  • Perform quality assurance checks on major transportation projects on state highway systems
  • Perform project management duties and client interaction
  • Participate in reviews with various governing agencies
  • Work across multiple business groups and market sectors
  • Work with area leadership in planning, managing, and coordinating opportunities for staff across the area and region
  • Conduct work sessions for design development and contract document in conjunction with other staff
  • Coordinate workload throughout entire project development, and ensure completion of documents on schedule
  • Track financial aspects of projects, and coordinate and adjust work effort with team to ensure that work is completed within parameters of agreed-to schedule
  • Work with Business/Accounting Managers, Project Controllers and Area Managers for project reviews and with company management as needed
  • Develop, manage, and supervise work of a staff of design professionals and technicians
  • Perform other duties as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • Minimum of 10 years related experience, 5 of which must include project management
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, communication skills, and ability to work with various teams
  • Strong and proven project management skills
  • Experience should include urban and rural highway interchanges, intersection design, traffic management, transportation planning, and site planning
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15 years experience in all aspects of engineering and/or planning
  • PE license, and ability to obtain PE license in NC if PE is from another state
  • Experience with InRoads, Microsoft Office applications
  • Prior project experience working with NCDOT
  • Local candidates are preferred
