OVERVIEW:

The primary function of this position is to assist and supervise students and staff in the Teen Drop-In Center. Oversee the safety, health, happiness, discipline and skill development of all students Teen Drop-In Center. Promote student engagement, teach/demonstrate educational or workforce development skills, and provide tutoring. Lead a variety of activities for youth programming.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build positive relationships with students and foster a culture of inclusion and respect.
  • Manage record keeping, reporting, and check-in/out procedures for students
  • Participate in outcome measurement processes and other evaluations of programming.
  • Resolve disputes with students, parents, and staff in a professional manner with the guidance of the Kroc Center Program Director
  • Plan activities, lesson plans, and specialized theme events for the teen drop-in center and create an inviting environment for all students.
  • Implement the day-to-day activities in accordance with established standards and goals.
  • Lead students through daily activities, distance learning, and recreational activities with enthusiasm according to training protocol and written lesson plans.
  • Support and maintain programs that engage teens socially, culturally, and intellectually
  • Tutor and assist students with homework, class projects, and other academic tasks.
  • Respond to emergencies and assist with the treatment of injured participants or staff. Follow up with the completion of appropriate paperwork as directed.
  • Ensure each program area used by groups is properly cleaned and follows proper cleaning protocol.
  • Assist in any support roles for the teen drop-in center including cleaning, food prep/service, and leading activities.
  • Follow all RJKCCC and Salvation Army fleet procedures while driving and inspecting vehicles.
  • Promote a safe working environment
  • Adhere to confidentiality and privacy policies
  • Other related duties as required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree (Preferred)
  • Experience tutoring or working in non-profit or youth development programs
  • Supervisory experience
  • First Aid/CPR Certification or ability to obtain it within 30 days of employment
  • Food Handler's card or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficient with current Microsoft software computer
  • Able to work with limited supervision
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. (Usually File Boxes)

  • Modern Office Equipment and Relevant Software
