The Lab Supervisor is responsible for supervising the day to day activities of assigned laboratory functions. Responsible for the accurate and timely performance of complex quantitative and/or qualitative analyses

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Must be a graduate of an accredited school with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology or equivalent experience

2. Must be MT(ASCP) registered or equivalent experience MT (AMT), HT (ASCP) (Histology

EXPERIENCE:

1. Must have 2-4 years' experience which has provided opportunities to refine competencies in professional practice

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. 1. Provides functional supervision of the laboratory.

2. Obtains blood specimens and performs various laboratory tests, based on area of assignment, by performing venipuncture and fingersticks to obtain blood if necessary

3. Assists in reviewing, recommending, and developing laboratory procedures

4. Keeps abreast of new developments and assists in conductions training programs for Staff Technologists

5. Insures that the cleanliness and readiness of the laboratory and related equipment is maintained

6. Insures that accurate records and files are maintained and prepares various periodic reports

7. Maintains the inventory and purchase of supplies for daily operation of the section

8. Participates in the evaluation of new equipment and toubleshooting present equipment

9. Maintains effective communication with laboratory sections, hospital departments, physician offices, etc

4. Demonstrates knowledge of and follows correct chain of command in handling management challenges and departmental issues

5. Ability to organize and prioritize time and tasks to achieve a well-coordinated work effort and to effectively meet work schedules and deadlines
