Plant Controller - Salary

This current wage range for this position is $99,200 to $148,800 annually

This highly visible position located at our Victorville, CA Facility.

What you'll do:


The Plant Controller is a managerial level position andis a key leader on theplantleadership teams for two manufacturing facilities. Contributes to all areas ofplant management and provides strong financial leadership for two separate manufacturing facilities ThePlant Controlleris responsible for planning and coordinatingplantbudget and business planning activities in alignment with corporate policies and practices. Responsible for understanding business requirements and environments for both businesses and providing communication, involvement and commitment to both. Requires periodic onsite presence at Madera Location located approximately 4 hours away.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for having a clear understanding and adhering to all corporate and plant financial procedures, methodology, and terminology as they apply to plant operations.
  • Responsible for the performance, development, and training of the accounting resources at the Victorville facility.
  • Regularly exercise discretion and independent judgement in carrying out assigned duties.
  • Provide meaningful input in the employee process from the hiring stage through termination.
  • Responsible for the integrity of all financial aspects of both sites, including:
    • All inventories (including but not limited to finished goods (FG), raw materials (RM), semi-finished goods (SF) & maintenance repair and operations (MRO))
    • Standard costs
    • Bill of material (BOM) accuracy
    • Spending approval authorities (SAP, PNET, etc.)
    • Process flow integrity
  • Preparation of the annual budget and quarterly forecasts for each site.
  • Communication and execution of monthly closing activities and the oversite of preparation of the monthly cost report detailing actual results and variances vs. plan for both sites
  • Management of all plant balance sheet accounts, including accrual, payroll, and GR/IR accounts.
  • Oversight of the capital spending process and capitalization of fixed assets.
  • Provide plant and corporate management financial information as requested.
  • Provide proactive leadership to meet and exceed plant financial targets.
  • Actively participate in plant Leadership Team initiatives.
  • Advising management on short-term and long-term financial objectives, policies and actions.
  • Analyzing the financial details of past, present and expected operations to identify development opportunities and areas where improvement is needed.
  • Coordinating audits of company accounts and financial transactions to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements and statutes.
  • Determining depreciation rates to apply to capitalized items and advice management on actions regarding the purchase, lease or disposal of such items.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.
  • Direct supervision and development of plant accounting resources.

What you'll need:

  • The Plant Controller must possess a bachelor's or master's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or a related field.
  • CMA, CPA certification a plus
  • 7-10 years experience in cost accounting, preferably in a fast-paced manufacturing and distribution environment, preferably in consumer packaged goods.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills - ability to build positive relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent communications skills - ability to communicate clearly and concisely in multiple media - verbal, written, etc.
  • Excellent organizational/time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work assignments in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Solid critical thinking skills and ability to create new, innovative ways to handle the supply chain function.
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office Suite and SAP).
  • Ability to analyze data and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality at all times and in all situations.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations associated with FDA, GMP, OSHA, etc. and maintain good housekeeping practices in all work departments.
  • In-depth knowledge of production operations, including equipment, materials, and workflow, etc.
