Academy of Art University seeks a Full-Time Faculty member to join our team in the School of Fashion. This role is located in beautiful downtown San Francisco and is convenient to public transportation. The Full-Time Faculty member will develop curriculum and implement CAD (Computer Aided Design) technologies in the School of Fashion. Responsibilities require research of new and established technologies and to develop curriculum based on CAD use in the Fashion Industry. Resources include Adobe Creative Suite, Gerber Web PDM, Kaledo, etc.

This position will cross multiple areas of the fashion curriculum and tracks; specifically, Fashion, Textile and Knitwear Design, Product Development, Styling, Fashion and Visual Merchandising, Marketing and Fashion Journalism. The FT Faculty member will be responsible for the recruitment of qualified Instructors to teach and build courses in the area of CAD within the School of Fashion. Likewise, you will teach a course load of 18 hours each week and be responsible for grading student work and participating in student assessments.

Academy of Art University is seeking candidates with these skills:

  • At least three years of prior professional teaching experience at a post-secondary institution is preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge and skills in the use of CAD and digital technologies in the Fashion Industry.
  • Well-versed in the areas of product development.
  • Technical understanding of garment construction and fit.
  • Communicate in written form and be proficient in computer applications and communications.
  • Must be able to clearly communicate art and design principles in a classroom setting while effectively motivating and inspiring students to deliver their best work.
  • Excellent organizational skills are required to ensure grading and communication timelines are consistently achieved.
