Academy of Art University's Urban Knights Athletics department is seeking a full-time Assistant Athletic Trainer. In this role, you will be responsible for the prevention, assessment, management and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. This will require that you assist with coordinating medical referrals and manage communication between the injured athletes, physicians, coaches and families on when and how the athlete can return to practice and competition. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Clinical instruction, supervision and management of Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer, Athletic Training Interns and Student Athletic Trainers / Workers.
  • Assist with coverage and management of all intercollegiate sports teams and provide immediate care to athletes during practices and games.
  • Act as a consultant for the Strength and Conditioning Department and make recommendations to ensure proper lifting techniques and performance of student-athletes.
  • Assist in daily operation of the athletic training room and assume the responsibilities of the Head Athletic Trainer during their absence.
  • Assist with administering drug testing policy and procedures, to include scheduling, collecting, observing, validating and communicating results.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge and commitment to follow NCAA, PacWest Conference and University rules and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree is required
  • Be a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) and possess an American University of Sports Medicine certification
  • Possess three years of collegiate training experience
  • Have valid CPR, First Aid and AED certifications
  • Possess knowledge of physical therapy theory and practice and be able to fit, adjust and modify a range of orthotic and body protective devices
  • Possess exceptional communication skills and effectively engage with others in person and by phone
  • Knowledgeable of all NCAA, Pacific West Conference rules and regulations and be able to effectively promote University requirements
  • Must be able to consistently lift up to 50 pounds
  • Have a valid California driver's license and be insurable through the Academy's provider
  • Must have a flexible schedule and be able to work evenings and weekends as needed for the University
