In this role, the Accountant II will support six main areas of accounting in addition to other responsibilities:

Financial Reporting and Monitoring

  • Maintain financial records in accordance with sound accounting principles
  • Prepare and enter monthly journal entries to the general ledger
  • Prepare account reconciliations with documented support; review for appropriate recording
  • Analyze financial variances, communicate findings and identify issues
  • Communicate and coordinate with external departments to obtain information on financial transactions, research reconciling items, and resolve any issues
  • Recommend and implement changes to accounting procedures and systems

Cash and Accruals

  • Reconcile selected accounts and resolve reconciling items on a monthly basis

Capital Leases

  • Record all new leases and maintain all existing leases
  • Maintain documentation for all leases
  • Prepare amortization tables
  • Reconcile related balances to the general ledger
  • Support property tax filings

Online Store Transactions

  • Understand functions and reporting within related systems
  • Validate and record sales and other transactions
  • Prepare sales and use tax filings for all retail entities

Audit

  • Assist in year-end audit functions
  • Prepare audit schedules and provide supporting documentation
  • Assist in special audits as necessary

Budgets/Projections

  • Assist in budget and projection procedures

Other

  • Document and maintain written desk-level procedures
  • Promote cross-training
  • Other financial related activities as deemed necessary

Requirements:

  • Possess a Bachelor's degree
  • Expertise in GAAP accounting. CPAs are a plus.
  • Possess 2 - 3 years professional experience in accounting book close and financial analysis.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel is required. Advanced level is preferred.
  • Multi-tasking is key. Having attention to detail skills as well as time management skills are crucial to the role.
