Under primary supervision of the Director of Student Engagement and Success, College of Letters and Science Undergraduate Education and Advising, serve as a key member of the LSUEA Office to provide leadership and management to broad-based, data-driven, proactive, and student-centered retention programs in support of the L&S Dean's DEI and Strategic Plan goals. Retention programs, which offer academic, personal, social, and transitional support, include assisting students of diverse backgrounds in building a strong sense of community, advising students holistically in individual and group settings, mentoring underserved students, and linking students to various campus resources and other administrative offices to enhance the student experience and promote student success. The AD is responsible for developing, coordinating, and facilitating educational intervention and enhancement activities, including group and/or cohort academic advising, First-Year Seminar/Experience/Aggie Connections, transition and/or bridge programs, living-learning communities, mentorship, and college-level honors and awards to improve persistence rates and time-to-degree, with attention to educational disparities and opportunity gaps across the undergraduate student population.
Acts as a College liaison to the Internship and Career Center and L&S College Relations and Development, with the goal of maintaining and establishing new relationships with alumni and employers to assist students with internship and career exploration, and post-graduation success. In partnership with ICC, other Student Engagement and Success staff, and major departmental faculty and staff, develop and deliver career readiness curriculum through credit-bearing courses and seminars, cohort advising/programming, academic advising, and mentorship.
The Assistant Director will develop and manage the liaison/partnerships with campus-wide academic department, academic retention initiatives (ARIs), community resource and retention centers, learning-living communities, and other student-oriented units, including those housed in Undergraduate Education and Student Affairs. The AD will liaise with and support L&S departmental academic support, retention, and success initiatives.
