A PHP Developer at Anderson Merchandisers will develop a variety of web applications that meet specific user needs. They will work on a small software team where their individual contributions will be highly visible. They will use PHP, javascript, or other programming languages and collaborate with other Software Developers to write, test, revise, and launch the software. They will independently develop computer applications involving moderately complex batch and interactive processes. They must have an understanding of other computer architectures with which those applications may communicate and, must work closely with other associates within the department to complete prioritized assigned tasks in a manner consistent with the company's Mission Statement, Values, and 10 Rules.

What would you do in this role?

Supervision

A PHP Developer reports to the Lead PHP Developer or the Software Development Manager.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Develop web applications using PHP on the Symfony framework running on MySql DB.

  • Build the full stack of the web application from database design through end-user UI in a PHP/JavaScript hybrid Framework.

  • Must be able to communicate with the user(s) regarding their computer application needs and be responsible for support and enhancements of active systems

  • Can independently develop computer applications involving moderately complex batch and interactive processes

  • Performs moderately complex systems analysis and development activities on applications software, which may require some research

  • Understands SQL in depth. All aspects of joins, aggregation, OLAP, indexing, and optimization hints.

  • Provides support for the resolution of production problems

  • Performs moderately complex bug verification, release testing, and beta support for assigned tasks

  • Research problems discovered by QA

  • Researches and understands the requirements for an application, including target environment, performance criteria, and competitive issues

  • Researches new technology or development tools to remain informed of current technology

  • Develops solutions to the problems

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Education and Experience

  • 2+ years of recent PHP development experience

  • Symfony experience preferred

  • Minimum of 2 years of technical experience in application design, development, and support, or demonstrated ability in those areas

  • Good technical knowledge in software development methodologies, design, and implementation

  • Good analytical and design skills at multiple application levels

  • Good skills in research and analysis, project planning, and implementation

  • Good understanding of the entire development process, including specification, documentation, and quality assurance

  • Awareness of business issues as they impact overall project plans

  • General understanding of object-oriented design patterns

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Intermediate PC skills
