About the Role

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Shared Digital Services to join our IT Services team. This pivotal role will oversee the management and strategic direction of all products from Microsoft, including SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange, Teams, and MS Fabric on Azure, along with Microsoft Contracts and Licensing. The successful candidate will also spearhead all IT infrastructure projects encompassing compute, storage, data, backups on-premise, at datacenters, and in the cloud. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic planning, and leadership skills to support our organization's digital transformation and operational excellence.

What you'll do:

Strategic Management:

  • Lead the development of a digital services strategy that aligns with the organization's goals, focusing on leveraging Microsoft technologies to enhance productivity, collaboration, and operational efficiency.
  • Regularly assess the digital landscape and organizational needs to adjust the strategy, ensuring it remains relevant and impactful.

Microsoft Suite Oversight:

  • Manage the deployment, maintenance, and optimization of all Microsoft products, including SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange, Teams, and MS Fabric on Azure.
  • Ensure all Microsoft software is correctly licensed, adhering to compliance standards while optimizing costs.
  • Stay abreast of updates, new features, and best practices related to Microsoft products to drive innovation and efficiency.

Infrastructure Leadership:

  • Oversee the planning, design, and implementation of IT infrastructure projects, ensuring robust, scalable solutions for compute, storage, and data management, including backups across on-premise, datacenter, and cloud environments.
  • Develop and enforce IT infrastructure policies, standards, and procedures, including disaster recovery plans to minimize downtime and data loss.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead a diverse team of IT professionals, setting clear objectives, and promoting a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous learning.
  • Conduct performance reviews, identify training needs, and provide mentorship to foster professional growth and development within the team.

Vendor and Stakeholder Management:

  • Cultivate strategic relationships with Microsoft and other technology vendors to ensure access to the latest tools, resources, and support.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across departments to understand their digital needs and challenges, ensuring the IT strategy effectively supports business objectives.

Risk Management:

  • Implement comprehensive security measures to safeguard against cyber threats, unauthorized access, and data breaches.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans, conducting regular tests to ensure organizational preparedness for IT emergencies.

Budget Management:

  • Develop and manage the budget for digital services and IT infrastructure, ensuring investments are aligned with the strategic goals and deliver maximum value.
  • Monitor spending, identify cost-saving opportunities, and make recommendations for financial efficiency without compromising on service quality.

Business Continuity:

  • Develop and oversee the implementation of a comprehensive business continuity plan that ensures minimal disruption to IT services in the event of an emergency or disaster. This includes the establishment of clear procedures for data backup, system recovery, and the maintenance of critical operations across all platforms and services.
  • The Director will regularly review and update the continuity plan to reflect the evolving IT infrastructure and organizational needs, ensuring all team members are trained and prepared to execute the plan efficiently. Conduct regular drills and simulations to test the effectiveness of the plan, making adjustments as necessary to address any weaknesses or changes in the technology landscape.

Generative AI Solutions:

  • Lead the exploration and integration of generative AI solutions to enhance organizational efficiency, innovation, and competitive advantage. This involves staying at the forefront of AI developments, evaluating new tools and technologies for potential application within the organization, and leading pilot projects to assess their impact and value.
  • The Director will collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify opportunities where AI can automate processes, generate insights, and support decision-making, ensuring these initiatives align with the overall IT strategy and business goals. Additionally, they will establish best practices for the ethical use of AI, ensuring compliance with legal standards and ethical considerations, and fostering a culture of responsible AI innovation.

You have these skills:

Expertise in Microsoft Technologies:

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft products such as SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange, Teams, and MS Fabric on Azure.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Licensing models and compliance requirements.

IT Infrastructure Management:

  • Strong background in designing, implementing, and managing IT infrastructure including compute, storage, networking, and data management solutions across on-premise, datacenter, and cloud environments.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, especially Azure, including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS models.

Cybersecurity and Risk Management:

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, tools, and best practices to protect systems and data.
  • Experience in developing and implementing disaster recovery and business continuity plans.

Data Privacy and Compliance:

  • Understanding of data privacy laws and regulations relevant to the organization's operations.
  • Experience in ensuring IT projects and services comply with industry standards and legal requirements.

And these qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing Microsoft products and IT infrastructure projects.
  • Proven expertise in managing a comprehensive suite of Microsoft products including SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange, Teams, and Azure.
  • Strong experience in IT infrastructure design and management across on-premise, datacenter, and cloud environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
  • Excellent vendor and stakeholder management skills.
  • Solid understanding of IT security, risk management, and compliance best practices.
  • Exceptional strategic planning, budget management, and project management skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of conveying complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

Extra credit if you have:

  • A Master's degree is preferred.

The annual salary range for this position in California is $146,600 - $212,660. The salary offered will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
