Job Description

Position Summary

This HVAC Service Technician will perform maintenance and service repairs on heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems under direction of Sr HVAC Technician or Manager. As a HVAC Service Technician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems in commercial and industrial facilities. The ideal candidate will possess advanced technical knowledge, excellent troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service to our commercial clients.

  1. Install, maintain, and repair commercial HVAC systems, including rooftop units, chillers, boilers, and packaged systems.
  2. Perform preventative maintenance tasks on HVAC equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  3. Diagnose and troubleshoot complex HVAC system malfunctions, including electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration issues.
  4. Conduct thorough inspections of HVAC systems to identify deficiencies, inefficiencies, and potential areas for improvement.
  5. Provide detailed repair estimates and recommendations to commercial clients, and communicate effectively to ensure customer satisfaction.
  6. Coordinate with building managers, facility owners, and other stakeholders to schedule service appointments and minimize disruptions to operations.
  7. Keep accurate records of all service calls, including parts used, labor hours, and equipment history.
  8. Stay current on industry standards, codes, regulations, and emerging technologies related to commercial HVAC systems.
  9. Adhere to safety protocols and best practices at all times, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to OSHA guidelines.
  10. Collaborate with other team members to share knowledge, provide support, and ensure timely completion of projects.
  11. Perform other position appropriate duties as required in a competent, professional and courteous manner.

Work Environment

The work is completed outside at the construction site, renovating occupied facilities such as hospitals, labs, nursing homes, etc. Located in an environment with regular exposure to fumes or odors, temperature extremes, or loud noises which cause noticeable discomfort or moderate risk of accident or illness. The position is often exposed to sounds and loud noises, such as construction equipment. The job requires they wear protective equipment when on the construction site (hardhats and safety glasses). Temperatures and conditions may vary depending on the weather and seasons.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb, or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and able to talk and hear other employee talking. The employee must be able to lift and/or move objects up to 75 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly. Expected Hours of Work

Full time, 40- hours a week or more. May work nights and weekends, construction may, at times, continue around the clock to meet deadlines.

Travel

Must have reliable transportation. Travel to and from the work site is required. Long distance travel will be required on occasion which may include overnight stays depending on the project.

Required Education and Experience

  1. Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a Commercial HVAC Service Technician.

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. High School Diploma or GED.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  1. Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  2. EPA certification for handling refrigerants (e.g., Universal Certification).
  3. Advanced knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, including controls, refrigeration circuits, and mechanical components.
  4. Proficiency in troubleshooting complex HVAC issues and implementing effective solutions.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and team members.
  6. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  7. Physical ability to lift and maneuver heavy equipment and work in various environments, including rooftops and mechanical rooms.
  8. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed to meet client needs.
