Job Summary

Residential Life interns will report directly to the Residence Hall Coordinator and indirectly to the Area Coordinator. This position is responsible for assisting the Residence Hall Coordinators in the community development within their residential area of campus. Additionally, interns may assist with the ongoing development and training of their area staff, assist with RA hiring and selection processes, and assist the RHCs in the day-to-day operations of each residential area.

1. Assist with overall community engagement, including implementation of the Residential Curriculum through programming and the creation of educational initiatives in the residence halls/apartment complexes.

2. Plan and facilitate area-wide programs, events, and initiatives.

3. Mentor RA/CAs through the Redbird Residential Curriculum and ensure they are meeting departmental expectations by meeting with them to discuss their progress and needs and to provide resources.

4. Ensure tracking of RA/CAs responsibilities in accordance with Community Engagement expectations.

5. Assist with the opening and closing of the residence halls (Move-In & Move Out) each semester.

6. Assist with Health & Safety Checks during fall, winter, and spring break periods.

7. Meet with residents to assist them in resolving roommate conflicts and other personal challenges.

8. Help with administrative matters such as maintenance reports, investigating damage assessments, and room inspections. Assist with tracking maintenance concerns within the building/area.

9. Collaborate with campus departments as needed to enhance academic success and overall residential experience.

10. Maintain bulletin boards in common areas.

11. Assist with the RA/CA recruitment and selection process.

12. Assist with other University Housing Services Committee Work, as needed.

13. Conduct research on new and innovative programs and housing best practices

14. Other duties as assigned.

Pay Rate

$14.75/hour

Work Hours

Evening and weekend hours will vary. This position will work 15-20 hours per week.
