The Risk Adjustment Trainer is responsible for working with the quality manager and coding SMEs to create and deliver learning and training content at project and clinical coding subject level for the Risk Adjustment Coding department. The goal is to achieve coding accuracy set forth by client SLA's as well as improve overall coding performance for onshore /offshore employees.

You will:

  • Manage virtual training processes.
  • Liaison with managers to determine training needs and scheduled training sessions.
  • Facilitate the designing of effective training programs by assessing the needs of the business for a new hires and project level based on coding project guidelines specific to each client
  • Deliver interactive training sessions to build knowledge and skills that transfer the application of learning to the work environment through various methods
  • Review client level audits and advise training content to re-educate team on coding error trends
  • Train and provide ongoing teaching/technical assistance to internal staff/external partners
  • Oversee the development of complex and advanced ICD-10 and Hierarchical Condition Category (HCC) coding and documentation training programs including defining training objectives, developing training materials and tools
  • Provide individualized education to staff and track performance over time
  • Create "train the trainer guides" on participant materials
  • Work closely with Quality team on finding findings from quality audits
  • Work closely with Production team to improve overall production performance
  • Provide support to client relations for trainings needed for client audit findings
  • Research and analysis of coding error trends
  • Update team on monthly and quarterly basis on new coding clinics, and ID-10 updates, Risk Adjustment coding news and changes
  • Work on special projects and any additional duties as assignment needed

What you will bring to the table:

  • 2+ years training experience, preferred
  • 5 years coding experience in HCC coding
  • AHIMA certified credentials (RHIA, RHIT, CCS) or AAPC certified credentials (CPC, CPC-H, COC, CIC, or CRC)
  • A strong knowledge base of medical technology, medical abbreviations, pharmacology and disease processes
  • Knowledge and understanding of HCC mappings and models
  • Experience with coding Medicare, Commercial and Medicaid risk adjustment charts
  • Understanding of Medicare, Commercial and Medicaid risk adjustment business logic and coding
  • Knowledge and understanding of health insurance plans operations
  • Deep expertise in finding coding resources and answering coding specific questions
  • Experience training and/or hosting webinars
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Flexible personality, ability to adjust output to achieve best results
  • Ability to work with multiple team members to proactively find solutions
  • Delivers excellent client service and Ciox core values to all members of Ciox team
  • Expertise and understanding of risk adjustment business logic
  • Ability to analyze data to determine the root cause of identified quality/production concerns
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining high quality
  • Must be able to follow instructions, meet deadlines and work independently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to work in a remote environment, and time management skills
  • Working knowledge of the business use of computer software hardware and software to ensure effectiveness and quality of the processing and security of the data
  • Requires skill in the use of a wide variety of office equipment including computer, routers, and other office equipment as required
  • Proficient in MS Office
