About Us

Sleep Train Enterprise is the parent company of Sleep Train Mattress Centers, Mattress Discounters, Got Sleep and Sleep Country USA mattress stores. Founded in 1985, our enterprise is an established leader in the bedding industry, ranked 4th largest in the nation. Our over 260 stores cover the West Coast from the southern border of California to the northern border of Washington and into Eastern Idaho. Each division continues to expand with the commitment to excellent customer service, implementation of great employee ideas, and the hard work of a highly trained staff.

We realize our employees are our most important asset. Hiring career minded individuals and surrounding ourselves with good people are the reasons we have been able to grow into the #1 mattress retailer on the West Coast. We also focus on promoting from within the company with all types of positions open for internal candidates. All of our Store Leaders, District Leaders, Regional Leaders, General Managers and Sales Vice Presidents started on the sales floor. Sleep Train Enterprise became an employee owned company in 2010 with the introduction of a new Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). All qualified employees now share in our growth and prosperity by obtaining shares of the company at no cost to them. We’re proud to be able to share the achievements of the company directly with the people that work hard every day to make the company a success.

We are so confident with our employee satisfaction that we invite you to contact any of our sales staff at our many locations and ask what their feelings are about the company.

An Employee Owned Company

Sleep Train became an employee owned company in 2010 with the introduction of a new Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).

All qualified employees now share in Sleep Train’s growth and prosperity by obtaining shares of the company at no cost to them. The ESOP plan is an addition to the company’s existing successful 401k plan. Sleep Train is proud to be able to share the success of the company directly with the people that work so hard every day. ESOP’s are established to inspire a sense of ownership in the company within employees, enabling them to strive for a common goal of success, which in turn benefits them upon retirement.

SleepTrain“We’re proud to be able to share the success of our company directly with the people who helped us get here – our employees,” said Sleep Train founder and CEO Dale Carlsen. “We’ve got a great team of individuals who deserve to be rewarded for their hard work and the ESOP plan we’ve developed is designed to do just that. We’ll be joining the ranks of other well-known employee-owned companies including Proctor & Gamble, WinCo Foods and more.” As an employee owned company, customers can rest assured that everyone from our sales professionals to delivery drivers are entirely committed to your satisfaction. The employees own their own future and each and every one of them are responsible for making your experience a great one. This gives customers the best of both worlds, the buying power of a big corporation plus the personal service of a neighborhood business.

An Employee Owned Company

For over 20 years, Sleep Train Inc. has been committed to community outreach, including our work on behalf of foster youth and at-risk children.

As a population faced with the challenges of poverty, neglect, and abuse, foster children are at risk for emotional problems, scholastic underachievement, and homelessness. To help, Sleep Train Inc. hosts in-store collection drives to gather essential items like new shoes, coats, pajamas, and school supplies – indispensable basics that can make a world of difference in the life of a foster child. With the help of our foster care partner organizations, we have collected and distributed over 900,000 essentials items to local foster children in need.

In 2012, our Mattresses for Kids program donated over 4,200 new mattress sets to at-risk children and their families. Mattresses for Kids makes it possible for children who once slept on couches, subpar mattresses, and even the floor to have a safe and comfortable sleep space of their very own.

In addition to collecting hundreds of thousands of essential items and donating thousands of mattresses, we have raised over 2 million dollars on behalf of former and current foster youth, through our annual Charity Golf Classic and Foster Kids Pajama Bowl.

SleepTrainSleep Train Inc. continues to renew its commitment to the communities it serves and to seek out new opportunities for community involvement.

Employee Volunteer Program

Sleep Train employees are committed to supporting the company's efforts to make a difference in its communities. Each year, our employees are provided 2 paid days to volunteer at the charity of their choice. We also organize team building volunteers days were we can make a large impact as a team.
